Often heard among Star Trek CCG players (or any other gamers, for that matter) is the affirmation that if only one more turn had been allowed, they could have won a particular game. It is common to see players acknowledging the fact that if they had played more efficiently or skillfully, they might have had more success in that game. Rarely does one encounter a game where a player simply has no viable options to victory. But with No-Win Situation, those options are reduced dramatically.

Joining the ranks of all-purpose events like Ak'voh and Quite a Coincidence, No-Win Situation has no affiliation requirement attached to it. Weighing in at a hefty five counters, players will naturally be looking for cheaper ways to get it into play, such as Party Atmosphere or Alexander Rozhenko, K'mtar. Morik players will want a copy or two in their core for a +5 attribute boost.

As for its game text, less is definitely more. As many top players have demonstrated in Continental and World Championship games, the player who faces the least amount of dilemmas is more likely to win. Strategies revolving around Knowledge and Experiencee, U.S.S. Defiant, Commandeered Warship, Damar, Useful Adjutant and Vic Fontaine, Vegas Crooner were pervasive throughout last year's championship circuit. Attrition dilemma piles have a friend in the No-Win Situation; even if their dilemma is ignored, their opponent will still have to stop an involved personnel.

Earth players get easy access to this event through Saavik, Protégée's provisionary download. Other affiliations have similar methods to grab No-Win Situation; Cardassians can download a second or third copy with Broca, Grovelling Lackeyy, while Borg players can make use of First, Unstable or Fourth, Neonatal Drone. Whatever your modus operandi, be prepared to face the No-Win Situation in the coming year.
