Jake Sisko

Just as we watched Jake mature throughout seven years of Deep Space Nine, in the Mirror, Mirror expansion we see him mature from half of a dual-personnel card into a strong, useful card of his own. In this incarnation, Jake retains his classification of CIVILIAN, and his skills of Biology and Youth. (Guess once he decided Starfleet wasn't in his future, he quit developing that 1/2 ENGINEER.) More importantly, he's picked up some new skills and icons to reflect his role as a writer, news reporter, and (during the Dominion War) counterinsurgent.

The first Federation-affiliated infiltrator, Jake is also the first infiltrator of any affiliation that can invade the Dominion. Although he's not enough of a threat to Issue Secret Orders (not without Reflection Therapy, anyway), he can still do plenty of damage with cards like Dial Martok for Murder and Inside Operation. (Or score you points with The Walls Have Ears.)

Even if you're not using Jake to mess with a Dominion opponent, there's still plenty you can do with him. If he's present with his trusty PADD, you'll have two more options. Once each turn, you can either have him File a Mission Report at any site (once per game, he can even suspend play to download this objective for you!) or peek at the top card of any deck - yours or your opponent's, draw deck or side deck. That knowledge can go a long way.

Combos:

• Jake Sisko + The Juggler (or any card allowing downloading): Jake may not have the manipulative powers of the Orb of Prophecy and Change baked right in, but if you don't like what you're about to draw, you can always do something to change it.
• Jake Sisko + File Mission Report: 5 free points just for swinging back by any site after Jake helps out with a mission.
