    Dr. Farek

This Card-Review article was written by openCards user Dukat at Jan 27th, 2009.

    Introduction:

Back in 1994, the direction our beloved game would take, could not be foreseen. Thus, since Decipher held licences for TNG only, they surely did not take into account that they would bring out a Ferengi affilation someday.

Now, 14 years later, this turns out to be very good because Dr. Farek, an unimposing personnel, is one of the more important cards for some reasons.

    The card itself:

Dr. Farek is a male Ferengi with exactly one skill, a mission specialist. His (only) skill is "Greed". His classification is MEDICAL.

    Strategies:

As mentioned above, Dr. Farek is a mission specialist. He can be downloaded to an outpost at the beginning of the game.

    NA Deck in general:

If playing a "pure" Non-Aligned deck, he can increase the amount of points gainable at Qualor II Rendevous, the quasi-Homeworld of any Non-Aligned personnel.

    Ferengi and Cardassian decks:

Greed is required by a lot of Ferengi as well as an amount of Cardassian missions. Since Cardassians and Ferengi mostly mix with Non-Aligned personnel, Dr. Farek can be used to boost up mission points earned by those two affilations.

    Special strategies, Clone Machine:

Dr. Farek is the only Non-Aligned personnel who has Medical or Biology or Science and Integrity lower than 6 which is required by Clone Machine AS WELL AS the ability to enter play in turn 1 without spending Defend Homeworld for that.

Since he is Non-Aligned, any affilation can take advantage of him. Most of all, the Dominion depends on him due to the fact that they do not have any mission specialists nor any personnel useable for Clone Machine able to enter play in turn 1 by downloading.
