    Kelby, Arrogant Engineer

This Card-Review article was written by openCards user Graves and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)".

What would a spaceship captain be without engineers to keep his or her ship performing at its best? Near the end of the Enterprise series, Captain Archer had the luxury of having two chief engineers on board Enterprise. One of them was Kelby, who, to say the least, had some attitude problems. As such, it doesn't come as much of a surp rise to find him in the game as Kelby, Arrogant Engineer.

This two-cost, unique personnel is one of the five Starfleet engineers to be released when his affiliation makes its debut. With three skills, he is not that exceptional, but his six cunning will come in handy when he helps to Retrieve Materiel or visits an Automated Repair Station (for which he holds two of the needed skills). If you equip him with an Engineering PADD, he can even provide the third skill for that last mission.

When it comes to performing his job in engineering, his arrogance will be forgiven as he is one of the best in his profession. He can combine a Quantum Slipstream Drive with Preeminent Precision to boost the Enterprise's range from six to twelve. His real strength, however, lies in his game text. Repairing ships on the fly is a power not to be underestimated and not shared by many. Something of a sibling to Geordi La Forge, Chief Engineer, the cost to use Kelby's game text is the discard of the top card of your draw deck. If you fear losing a good card from that location, or if some unusable cards are clogging your hand, just throw in a First-Hand Experience to convert a troublesome discard from deck to a free choice from hand. If you really want to make this guy rock, then just let him Exceed Engine Output, and upon arrival, use his game text to remove the damage card that got you there. All this versatility from an uncommon, this card simply cannot be left out of any Starfleet deck.
