Before the Titan and the Defiant, before Voyager and the Excelsior, there was only one starship in the Star Trek universe that fans collectively drooled over. One vessel that fired the imaginations of an impressionable generation, and shaped the vision of science fiction for the rest of the 20th century. It was this Beautiful Lady, with no bloody –A, –B, –C, –D, –E, or –J.

Clocking-in at a mere three counters, NCC-1701 is the least expensive Enterprise to date. However, most players will have a hard time turning down the allure of her ability; 5 points for only four more counters. Whether held in reserve for a well-timed Amanda Rogers, or a straightforward boost of speed with At What Cost?, the U.S.S. Enterprise offers Original Series players quick and easy access to these powerful options.

However, the U.S.S. Enterprise is more than just a cheap date; her outstanding Range and minimal staffing requirements make her an optimal choice for either a first-ship explorer, or a second-ship reliever. And don't let her low Weapons and Shields dissuade you from including her in your Original Series deck; plenty of attribute boosts are available from Original Series personnel, resulting in stats that can easily match most 24th-century ships.

Among the most desirable of the U.S.S. Enterprise's many qualities is her multitude of corresponding Commanders. Whether it's a Highly-Decorated Captain, an Original Thinker, a Trainee Instructor, or even a Bold Man, keeping the U.S.S. Enterprise correctly staffed for some easy Mission Accomplished points is a breeze. Not to mention the possibilities when reporting Kirk with Captain on the Bridge a few times each game...

Needless to say, the original U.S.S. Enterprise paved the way for the Federation's expanse, and for Star Trek's growth into ten major motion pictures, five television series, and millions of fans worldwide. Its inclusion in the Smithsonian Institution acknowledges its iconic embodiment of ingenuity, intrepidity, and courage to explore the surrounding universe, as well as the endurance and determination of the human race. And like a fine wine, this Beautiful Lady is only improving with age.
