Hints & strategie notes for this Deck

Blake Mandalis - Day 3 Worlds (9th seed)

2-1 vs. Charlie Plaine, 0-2 vs. James Hoskin, eliminated in Round 2

Blake "The Snake" Mandalis secured his Day 3 seat with a record of 5-3, finishing Day 2 with a win over Geoffery Peterson. His DS9 deck was definitely a throwback to the dilemma-busting decks of 2004 and 2005, but with a couple important additions: Worf, Defiant Commander helped to boost big guns like Roga Danar, and Energize made playing those high-cost personnel much less painful. Blake chose to change only two cards from Day 2 to Day 3, favoring a Gomtuu Shock Wave and a Talosian Trial over the exceptionally chancy Assist Rescue Operation.

With Charlie to face in the first round, Blake found himself questioning whether or not to metagame against Charlie's Origins attribute denial deck. While the inclusion of Survey New World did help his chances to get rid of an unwelcome Bashir Founder, Blake remained confident in his deck design that had won him so many tournament games in the past throughout the last four years. His decision proved to be the right one, as he squeaked past Charlie in three games.

Knowing he had to face the juggernaut James Hoskin, Blake played his deck perfectly. But with an inferior draw and more expensive personnel, he was unable to keep up with the Voyager crew as they rampaged through two games, eliminating Blake from Day 3 competition. He finished in 7th place overall.
