    Oof!Oof! (first version)

This Card-Review article was written by Kathy McCracken and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)" at Jul 11th, 1998.

This interrupt has two very different, but very important, functions. The first is a no-brainer for a Federation deck that can't initiate battle; Fightin' Wordsimage is a powerful stalling mechanism, and this is your only way to combat it.

The second gives you another defense against those Amanda Rogersimage / Kevin Uxbridgeimage / Q2image - loaded decks. A few copies of The Line Must Be Drawn Hereimage may sting your opponent when he plays one of those cards, but it still had its effect, and once the countdown times out he can Palor Toff it and hit you again on your next interrupt or event. Instead, try letting him get away with a few of his counters, which he will happily do once he decides you have no TLMBDH to activate. Then play Oof! and watch the smugness go away.

    Combos:

    • Oof! and your opponent's omnipotent trio: Same point loss as with TLMBDH, and he can't get the cards back to reuse.
    • The Line Must Be Drawn Here (x1) + Oof!: It may be so important for him to counter your cards that he will absorb a 5-point loss for each counter. But was he counting on -10 points each?
