What would you say if I told you that I could show you a strength ten companion with four vitality that can exert during a skirmish to wound any Isengard minion he is skirmishing? Is this too good to be true? Meet Lindenroot, Elder Statesman.

Lindenroot, one of the new Ent companions in Battle of Helm's Deep, is currently the strongest companion in the game. With ten strength, he can beat most of the minions in the game. If he faces an Isengard Orc or an Uruk-hai that he can't beat, he can simply exert to kill them. He can also make use of cards like Windows in a Stone Wall to weaken your opponent's strategy. Since he comes with a 4 twilight cost, it's best not to start with him. However, since he is a Gandalf character, A Wizard Is Never Late can pull him from your deck.

The drawback to this power comes in the form of the Unhasty keyword. Since he is Unhasty, only Gandalf cards - like Lindenroot himself - can allow him to skirmish. If you want Lindenroot to be able to fight with your other companions, you'll need to either exert an Unbound Hobbit or discard two cards from hand. Unbound Hobbits fit well with Ents, but you should not overlook the power of discarding cards from hand. The ability to discard useless cards so you can draw more cards which may help you is a strong one. With the Ents that have this gametext, you can build a larger deck and go through it faster. By doing this you can turn this drawback into an advantage.
