An all-around great personnel, Rom begins with double-ENGINEER, helpful for overcoming many nasty dilemmas including Birth of "Junior"" Gravimetric Distortion and Duonetic Field Generator. Add to that some more dilemma-solving power, not to mention several valuable mission skills: Astrophysics, Honor, Navigation and Physics. Top it off with a variable CUNNING to protect him from Hunter Gangs and Yuta, and you've got a winner for your deck.
But which deck? Indeed, that's perhaps Rom's best feature of all - he's dual-affiliation. In a Ferengi deck, he'll come in handy for solving Collect Sample, Purchase Moon, and most Federation space missions you'd care to Bribe your way into. In a Bajoran deck, he's useful at Characterize Neutrino Emissions, Acquire Illicit Explosives and more, and bolsters their reserves of the often-lacking ENGINEER skill.
Combo:
- Rom + Treaty: Federation/Bajoran: Add Rom (in Bajoran mode) to Federation super-ENGINEERs Geordi La Forge (Prem) and Miles O’Brien (BoG), and solving Federation space missions shouldn't be any trouble at all.
